I Have To Confess, I Have Sometimes Missed An Off Ramp...

If we focus solely on avoiding hell, we may have missed the point of Grace that makes life worth living.

I can stand completely still and not end up in bad places or situations; but the same is true of the good places and situations as well. OR to look at it scripturally... just because I'm not taking the wide gate and easy road that leads to destruction, doesn't exactly mean that I've begun to walk through the narrow gate and onto the hard road that leads to life. (Matt 7: 13-14) I wonder if some of those who don't find the narrow road aren't still sitting at the crossroads trying to not make the wrong choice?

Our aims and lives should be focused on the things of Heaven. Not only on getting there; but on bringing glimpses of that destination here, based on the Hope we live in and the joy that it brings. The narrow road is hard for me personally not because of what I have to give up, but because of what I have to START doing. Loving someone who may not be too lovable... forgiving someone who has wounded me deeply... helping someone who would spend all of their energy trying to let people know how wrong I am in my belief or that may seek my destruction... all very, VERY hard. But that is what Christ did for me so that I could find a place in Heaven. And if it's the way He says we get there, then that's the way I have to go.

So I take one step, then another, and I focus on the destination and not the cliff I could fall from as I walk. I invite you to do the same. And hey, since we all HAVE to move to get there anyway, why not make the journey together?

Grace and peace be yours today,

Chris

I'm always glad to hear from people who have taken time to read the posts here... even those who may not agree with me. I have had to make changes in the way I handle comments for this blog. They will all be subject to moderation from here on in. And as this is a personal blog and I have sole responsibility for its upkeep, it may take me a while to clear a post. I only ask 2 things from those who would leave comments.

1.) Please give your name. I have posted under mine, not anonymously or with a user name that would hide my identity. I would hope if someone was going to share an opinion, thought, criticism, or atta boy, that they would do so without fear of being identified so we can have an open dialogue.

2.) Please be respectful in the use of your language. Any cuss words, slurs, or other specifically vitriolic language will result in your comments not being posted. This is simply an attempt to keep a civil and life affirming tone for this space.

Thanks! And remember... Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss things. But small minds talk about people. Let's try to be great together.
